Welcome To Our Wonder Of Nature...

The easiest way to travel to Santa Cruz is by plane departing from Quito and Guayaquil. The flight from Quito to Guayaquil takes 30 minutes. The flight from Guayaquil to the airports of the Galapagos Islands, which are San Cristobal or Baltra (Santa Cruz), takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. The airlines that depart to the Galapagos Islands are TAME, AVIANCA and LAN. Maximum authorized luggage weight is 44 pounds and one carry-on bag.

Before checking in TAME, AVIANCA and LAN airline counters you must purchase the Transit Control Card (TCT). The TCT can be purchased for $20 at the Council of Galápagos. In case you decide to extend your initial stay you may do so for a maximum of 60 days.

To prevent the introduction of animals or plants that could endanger the biodiversity of the Galapagos species check the "List of Products permitted and not permitted" to enter the islands. Before your arrival to the Galapagos Islands you must complete an Affidavit of Goods. This declaration form has to be turned in to the inspectors at the point of arrival at any of the inhabited islands of the archipelago.

Upon arrival at the airport in Baltra turn in your travel documents for review by the authorities. All travelers must pay Income tax to the protected areas of Galapagos as follows: foreign tourists entering Ecuador $ 100; tourists belonging to the Andean Community or MERCOSUR $50, national tourists $ 6, and the fee per child under 12 years of age is 50% of the above mentioned prices. Expect your luggage to be checked by the inspectors of the ABG upon arrival.

If your destination is Santa Cruz-Port Ayora take a bus ($ 5) from the airport in Baltra to the Itabaca Channel. There a ferry (sea transport) will take you to the Santa Cruz Island at a cost of $ 1 USD. Once you crossed the Itabaca Channel, you can take a bus ($ 2 USD) or a taxi ($ 18-20 USD) to reach the city center of Port Ayora in approximately 45 minutes.

The visits to terrestrial tourist sites can be done on foot or by hiring the services of a taxi, small bus or tourist bus. The costs for these transport services will depend on the travel distance and time spent at the site.
